John Mahoney
Founder & Head Coach

Coach John Mahoney is the Founder and Head Coach of 212° Academy, with more than 30 years of experience across high school, collegiate, and elite prep basketball. He has developed players at every level — from Division III to NBA prospects — and is known for building disciplined systems and honest, development-first environments.
Before launching 212 in 2020, he led IMG Academy’s nationally ranked post-graduate program and coached at the Division I level, including time under John Beilein at West Virginia and Michigan. Across every stop, his focus has remained consistent: fundamentals, accountability, and preparation that translates beyond the court.
Dolan Mahoney
Co-Founder & Director of Operations

Dolan Mahoney is Co-Founder and Director of Operations at 212° Academy, where he has helped build and scale the program’s academic, athletic, and business model. His work spans tuition strategy, housing structure, and long-term planning as the academy continues to grow.
A former Division I student-athlete at Florida Gulf Coast University, Dolan brings firsthand experience balancing high-level athletics and academics. That perspective shapes his approach to athlete development and program design. In parallel, he works in enterprise sales and partnerships, applying a disciplined, relationship-driven approach to growth and sustainability at 212.

Doug Leichner
Director of High School Basketball

Doug Leichner leads the high school basketball program at 212° Academy, working alongside Coach Mahoney to implement a consistent, development-first system. With more than 20 years of coaching experience across Division I programs, international competition, and elite academies, he brings a deep understanding of player development and team culture.
His background includes roles at the University of Maine and Iona College, as well as Head Coach of the Great Britain U20 National Team. He has also founded and led multiple academies, helping athletes earn college opportunities. At 212, he focuses on skill progression, accountability, and preparing players for the demands of the next level.

Marianne Sun
Strategic Advisor

Marianne Sun brings more than 40 years of executive leadership experience across public and private companies. She has served in CEO and COO roles, led growth and restructuring initiatives, and guided organizations through capital raises, public offerings, and international expansion.
At 212° Academy, Marianne provides strategic oversight across business operations, financial planning, and long-term growth. Her experience building scalable systems and driving operational discipline supports the academy’s continued development as a sustainable, high-performing organization. She remains actively involved in mentorship and advisory work, bringing both perspective and structure to the leadership team.

Robert “BJ” Lang

Robert “BJ” Lang oversees academic development and supports on-court instruction at 212° Academy. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, he brings more than 25 years of experience in program management, technology operations, and organizational leadership.
At 212, BJ applies a structured, systems-driven approach to help student-athletes stay organized, accountable, and academically aligned. He works closely with education partners and families to ensure progress and consistency. His background in leading complex initiatives and building scalable systems brings discipline and clarity to the academy’s academic and operational framework.
Director of Athletic Operations & Assistant Coach
Cameron Darby

Cameron Darby leads strength and conditioning at 212° Academy, designing performance programs that prepare athletes for the physical demands of college basketball. He works closely with the coaching staff to develop strength, speed, mobility, and recovery systems tailored to each athlete.
Coach Cam specializes in biomechanics-driven training and holds advanced certifications in movement assessment and performance programming. His approach focuses on improving efficiency, increasing power, and reducing injury risk through proper mechanics and data-informed training. He also integrates recovery, nutrition, and lifestyle guidance to support long-term athlete development.

Eric Fenton
Director of Development

Eric Fenton is a real estate development executive with more than 20 years of experience leading large-scale residential and mixed-use projects. He has overseen the development of more than 8,000 units and significant retail space across Florida and the Washington, D.C. region.
At 212° Academy, Eric leads facility development and long-term campus planning, bringing deep expertise in acquisition, design, financing, and construction. His experience managing complex, multi-phase projects ensures the academy’s physical growth is aligned with its long-term vision. A LEED Accredited Professional, he also brings a focus on sustainability and operational efficiency to every project.
